Tener discos como “Sweet Oblivion” de Screaming Trees es de ésos pequeños tesoros que nos da la música. El sexto trabajo de estudio de la banda de Ellensburg es uno de los mejores discos publicados en la década de los 90.
Fue publicado en el 1992., en plena explosión del Sonido Seattle y el Rock alternativo, Mark Lanegan, los hermanos Conner y el nuevo fichaje para éste disco, Barret Martin a la batería, deslumbran con éstas 11 canciones. “Shadow of the Season” y “Nearly Lost You” suenan nada más dar al play. Dos trallazos que dejan bien claro que los Trees van a por todas. La guitarra de Gary Lee Conner cobra protagonismo en temas como “Troubled Times” o “More or Less”. Una base rítmica que despliega influencias del Garage y el Blues sin cesar. Y la voz y personalidad del señor Mark Lanegan, un vocalista de talento infinito.

Sweet Oblivion is the sixth studio album by Screaming Trees, released on September 8, 1992. It quickly became the band's best-selling record, and was the closest they ever came to achieving mainstream success. Sweet Oblivion sold in excess of 300,000 copies on the strength of “Nearly Lost You”.The band's biggest hit, “Nearly Lost You” benefited from an appearance on Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, a Top Ten, platinum-selling hit album which featured many other popular Seattle-based music acts from the period.Around the time of the recording of the album, the band’s original drummer Mark Pickerel left to pursue other musical interests, and was replaced with Barrett Martin.Four years passed in between Sweet Oblivion and the band's follow-up album, Dust, a move that hurt much of the band's commercial momentum.
